My wife and I purchased this tent as a basecamp tent for 2. I was a little leary because of the odd shape and I have always stuck to dome tents for their rain protection. The Coleman Northstar X6 may not be a dome, but it does have full fly coverage and bathtub style floor. It is a 2 room tent with one room setup as your sleeping area with 2 windows and 2 roof flaps that zip/unzip to regulate the inside temp. The other room is all noseeum netting and setup as a screen room.

I have been an outdoors-man for some time and I am particularly happy to have found this tent. For the money, it is everything I could want in a tent. It fits inside my hiking backpack right next to my sleeping bag. It is lightweight, fast and easy to setup, comes with a repair kit, and everything fits back in the bag for once. I was considering a few other tents when I actually got a chance to see this one on the trail at Red River Gorge. I bought it as soon as I got home from that trip. I have used it 4 times this summer and I have found no problems with it. It was a little cold the one morning when the frost was on the outside, but I had a good bag. I really enjoy this tent.

Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent Review

This tent was easy to put up and not as easy to pack back into a small bag…but possible! During camping, it got pretty dang windy and the tent held up find and only once did the front corner buckel and I had to stick my hand up and push it back and it popped back in place. It real strong gusts of wind and got down to about 40 - 42 degrees that night. It was a little chilly but luckly we had warm blankets. The tent was only about 6 ft tall in the center, so not a lot of room to stand straight up but the low profile was nice cuz everyone else’s tents were coming unstaked and banded up looking (There’s were quite a bit taller)
I recommend this tent, I definately would want 8 people in this tent!
